A mediation process takes up considerably less of your time than a legal procedure. Experience has taught us that conflicts can be resolved within three to five mediation sessions. The duration of a session usually lies between 1,5 and 2,5 hours. The parties themselves decide with what frequency they meet up, but in practice this is usually with a two week interval. Mediation in comparison to a trip to court is considerably less costly. The costs consist of the mediator’s fee plus additional costs (such as location rental and travel expenses). The fee will be calculated based on an hourly rate and is independent of achieving a solution. Although the costs are usually shared between the partners involved, you are free to negotiate your own terms. IDIS Mediation can inform you on the hourly rate beforehand.
